TOP 5 BEST PIZZA PALACES IN KEY WEST
Pizza, Pizza, Pizza, originating in Italy, has undergone numerous changes to become the beloved dish it is today. However, in America, we have taken this obsession to a whole new level. We engage in what I like to call the "Pizza Wars," where everyone claims that their preferred style is the superior one. From Neapolitan to Chicago, New York to Sicilian, Greek to California, Detroit to St. Louis, Miami to Hawaiian - the options seem endless. Each person has their own unique preference, whether it be the type of water used, the thickness of the crust, the presence of cheese in the crust, the method of baking, or even the use of artisan or whole wheat ingredients. Some even go as far as creating gluten free vegan pizzas – as an old Chicago guy, I say go F' yourself that's not a pizza! However, it is well noted, the list of variations is infinite.

Now, you want me to reveal the top 5 pizza places in Key West. Well, I must say, I decline. Instead, I will share with you 5 establishments that I believe are worthy of being added to my Bucket List. I'm curious to know your thoughts on them as well.
1. Onlywood Pizza (613 - ½ Duval St.)
The pizza place in Key West is the embodiment of upscale modern pizza dining experience (completely opposite of the second on our list). Instead of a regular pizza oven, they proudly showcase a huge, imported brick oven made entirely of volcanic materials from the Mt. Vesuvius (**_Vesuvius is considered to be one of the most bad-ass dangerous volcanoes in the world_**). This enables them to create an authentic Neapolitan pizza of outstanding caliber. Despite the use of these fancy imported ingredients, the prices remain incredibly fair.
2. Clemente's Trolley Pizzeria (515 Fleming St.)
My pizza place of choice for Key West (not claiming it's the absolute best in the World) is located just off Duval Street. It may appear unassuming with its Stupid Name (I'm sorry somebody had to say it), which I apologize for, but I believe it should be called Vitto's Sicilian Pizza Joint. If they were to adopt a new slogan, it could be "Leave the Gun, take the Pizza." Despite its unassuming appearance, they serve wood-fired pizzas that are cooked to perfection. This place is definitely worth a visit, as it has earned a spot on our Bucket list for good reason. The quality of their pizza is truly exceptional!
3. Tavern N Town Pizza (3841 N Roosevelt Blvd.)
According to popular belief, money may not be capable of purchasing happiness, but it can certainly afford the pleasure of indulging in pizza and beer. The only aspect that slightly disappoints us at TNT is the limited variety of only three pizzas - namely, Tavern, Margherita, and Prosciutio, all of which are absolutely delicious. It is perhaps their concentration and dedication given to perfecting these only three options that result in the creation of exceptionally good pizzas.
4. Duetto Pizza (540 Green St.)
In my opinion, this may not be the ultimate pizza in the world, but it certainly is the ideal spot to purchase pizza in Key West. They offer a variety of pre-made options or the opportunity to customize your own pizza. Conveniently located near Sloppy Joes, you can either pick up your order or have it delivered. Duetto is the kind of place that boasts a superb location, affordable prices, and serves a delicious New York-style pizza. Before 4pm, you can even enjoy two generously sized slices for just a $6.95. - Best Deal in Town!
5. Pizza Joe's (724 Duval St.)
Located on right on Duval St. in Key West, there is a Midwest pizza joint that serves authentic New York-style pizza for just $4.25 per slice (kind of confusing "Joe"). The pizza has a crispy yet soft crust and a variety of toppings to choose from all premade – step right up! The service is quick and efficient, allowing customers to order, pay and then keep walking with their pizza.
