Top 5 Best Places for Donuts

After thorough exploration and sampling, it became evident that only a single establishment deserved a spot on the coveted bucket list website. Key West boasts a Dunkin' Donuts shop, where donuts are crafted daily. However, when you're on vacation in Key West, why settle for something you can easily obtain back home? Are you seriously telling me that after traveling thousands of miles to reach Key West, staying in a luxurious $750 per night hotel, your first desire is to indulge in Dunkin' Donuts, Haggen Daz Ice Cream, or Wendy's Hamburgers? What you truly crave is an extraordinary local experience - those charming, family-owned businesses. And when it comes to donuts, we have only one, but it's an absolute treasure.

Glazed Donuts (420 Eaton St)

The United States sees an annual production of approximately 10 billion doughnuts, but it is quite uncommon to come across a place like Glazed Donut Shop in Key West that offers freshly made donuts. This establishment has received ratings of 4.5 and 4.6 on popular review platforms such as Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Google. Personally, I find it disappointing that Glazed Donuts is not a 5-star establishment.

It's unfortunate to encounter individuals who, just because they can type on a keyboard, somehow consider themselves food experts. They are quick to complain about trivial matters, such as someone not kissing their feet or accusing the owner of being a racist and a bigot (which is impossible, as I'm Jewish and eat out often. In 65 years, I have never had anyone make an anti-Semitic remark towards me).

Some also complain about the prices being too high, claiming that a single donut costs $5. However, these individuals fail to consider that Key West is an island, and supplies must be transported from the mainland, which naturally increases costs.

To those who have given this place a low rating of 1 out of 5, I must say, their opinions are misguided and unwarranted.

In my review, I have probably consumed more donuts in my lifetime than most people, weighing in at 340 lbs last year. Whether it's Dunkin', Krispy Kreme, or various local brands, I have tried a lot of them. And I can confidently say that Glazed Donuts produces exceptional donuts. The skilled craftsmanship involved in creating them results in a visually appealing and delicious product. It frustrates me when a customer claims that the donuts are not fresh, which is simply untrue. I have personally witnessed the store disposing of today's leftover donuts at closing time, proving that this establishment is trustworthy and deserving of a 5+-star rating.
